Ipoh's 3 best desserts

Ipoh folks love their local desserts with a passion. The fact that there is even a street called Tong Sui Kai (Desserts Street) attests to this.

Hokkien Mee KL Style

This article was first published on Hungrygowhere Malaysia HERE

Another old school favourite of Malaysians is Hokkien Mee. Not to be confused with the Penang version of Prawn Mee, this Hokkien Mee is like a black sauce version of Yee Mee, ubiquitously found at all chinese tai-chows in the country.

Hotel review: Doubletree Hilton, KL

Each year, hubby and I will plan for several staycations for the family - just short 1-2 nights stay at a nice hotel somewhere in KL or PJ.  We enjoyed these breaks as it doesn't involve long outstation drive and I don't have to tax my braincells about all the things that need to be packed.  Forgot something?  Home is just 10 minutes away!

Food Review: Barn Thai, Plaza 33

You don't find too many restaurants that offer thai tapas in such a stylish setting as Barn Thai. Step through the imposing front doors and be greeted right in the face by a gleaming gold stallion. That just about sets the tone for what lies ahead.

Nasi Lemak - The Full Glory

We Malaysians love a good plate of nasi lemak.  Steaming hot santan rice, crispy fried ikan bilis, salted roasted peanuts, lots of chilled cucumber slices, a good dollop of sweet oniony sambal and a beautiful piece of golden fried chicken.  YUMM!  That's my benchmark of a good nasi lemak.

Chicken and Feta Cheese Burger Patties

This recipe came about purely because I wanted to finish up some leftover feta cheese and my son has been asking for burgers of late.  So I thought, why not make some burger patties using the feta?

Since I cook on most weekdays, weekends are my "days-off".  Whilst it's nice to eat out for a change and try different restaurants, it's also getting pretty expensive eating out as a family these days.

Easter Recipes Back-to-back - Braised Lamb Shank with Herbs and Balsamic Reduction

Squeezing in this recipe just before Easter :)  Lamb features prominently in any Easter meal due to its symbolic representation of the Lamb of Christ.  Though the title of this recipe is quite a mouthful, it is actually super easy and mess free, yet produces such amazing flavours.
