Just look at that - SLURP!!!

When one talks about claypot crab and glass noodles in Ipoh, the name Restoran Rasa Lain will inevitably comes to mind. This restaurant has been going strong for years, its fame having been elevated beyond the shores of sleepy Bercham since appearing in the foodie program Taste with Jason (Ah Xian) a few years ago.

Daytrip to Tanjung Sepat

The old jetty behind the mushroom farm.  My city-son trying to haul the dis-used fishing net to get to the fishes trapped in between the netting

We took advantage of the recent Thaipusam long weekend to make a daytrip to Tanjung Sepat for some good food, CNY shopping and a no-screen excursion for our city kids.

Food Review: Restoran Yok Kee, Kampung Subang

This is one of those food places that I would put under the "cheap, good and no ambience" category.  Don't we all need to find more of such places especially during these austerity times.

Ipoh's 3 best desserts

Ipoh folks love their local desserts with a passion. The fact that there is even a street called Tong Sui Kai (Desserts Street) attests to this.

Food Review: Simply Mel's, Malacca Portugese Food

It is not easy to find restaurants serving authentic Kristang cuisine in Kuala Lumpur. Started three years ago as a labor of love between a mother and her daughters, Simply Mel's has been blazing the local restaurant scene with authentic Kristang recipes passed down for generations.

Food Review: Barn Thai, Plaza 33

You don't find too many restaurants that offer thai tapas in such a stylish setting as Barn Thai. Step through the imposing front doors and be greeted right in the face by a gleaming gold stallion. That just about sets the tone for what lies ahead.

Since I cook on most weekdays, weekends are my "days-off".  Whilst it's nice to eat out for a change and try different restaurants, it's also getting pretty expensive eating out as a family these days.

I can eat Vietnamese food every day!

There's something about a cuisine that features such prominent use of fresh herbs, minimal use of oil and heavy reliance on fresh ingredients.  Vietnamese food is considered one of the healthiest cuisine in the world.
